Monday, March 16, 2015. BMG: The new San Ignacio/Santa Elena town council officially took office today, Monday, March 16.

Mayor Earl Trapp and his councilors were sworn in during a short ceremony held on Sunday afternoon at the Cayo Welcome Center by Senior Justice of the Peace Elulogio Cano.

Prior to the start of the swearing in ceremony, Mayor Trapp and the councilors went around greeting the people who had gathered to witness the event and to enjoy the entertainment provided by the Super Furia Band.

Councilors George Boiton, Bernadette Fernandez, David Morey, Vanessa Neal, Michael Salazar and Nich Singh were first to take their oath, followed by Mayor Trapp who received a round of applause when he was introduced as the new Mayor of the twin towns, succeeding John August who now proceeds to contest the next General Elections in the Cayo Northeast constituency.

When he addressed the gathering after being sworn in, Mayor Trapp thanked the people who resoundingly voted in the UDP team.

He also thanked the campaigners and his wife and children for their unyielding support during the campaign, on election day and in the days leading up to his first official day in office.
