Budget debate: PUP leader says proposed Bill “short on substance”

Thursday, March 26, 2015. BMG: The debate on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2015-2016 resumed this morning in Belmopan.

The Honorable the Leader of the Opposition Mr. Francis Fonseca opened the debate with the traditional rebuttal to the Prime Minister’s budget speech which was read in the House of Representatives on Friday, March 13.

Mr. Fonseca used his rebuttal to combed through the proposed budget and concluded that the proposed fiscal plan by the Barrow administration for the next financial year is “short on substance … short on ideas … short on purpose and direction and short on solutions to the serious social and economic challenges confronting our beautiful Belize.”

Following the presentation by the Honorable the member for Freetown, the next representative to rise to make his presentation on the propose budget was the Honorable the Member for Belmopan, Mr. John Saldivar.
