Bloody weekend in the City

Monday, April 20th, 2015. BMG: Several shootings recorded over the weekend leaves person dead and about half a dozen recuperating from gun shoot wounds at the KHMH.

On Friday night around 8:14 pm, Belize City police were called to the corner of Fabers Road and Central American Boulevard, where they saw the lifeless body of 35 year old Vern Magdaleno seated on the driver side of his Mazda Car with a single gunshot wound to the left side of his head. Initial Investigation revealed that Magdaleno had just walked across from a shop and sat inside of his car when a male person rode up to the driver’s side and fired the single fatal shot at him. Magdaleno was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival at 9:20 p.m. 5. MURDER

And shortly after that fatal shooting incident, police were called out to investigate several other shooting incidents that rattled the city. The first was recorded on Friday night around 8pm and its victim has since been identified as 50 year old Windy Lambey. Thompson reported to police that whilst at her Curl Thompson Street home watching television with family members, she heard several gunshots coming from the direction of her veranda and noticed her 18-year-old son and his 17-year-old friend Aaron Munnings being pursued by a male person with a handgun. Seconds later, the unknown trigger man fired shots at Aaron Munnings causing him to receive injuries to the jaw. During the volley of shots that were fired, Thompson sustained gunshot injuries to both her legs.

But the rain of bullets didn’t end there; as law enforcers were once more informed of another shooting incident, this time on Banak Street. Upon police arrival, they observed 18 year old Nissane Usher with what appear to be a gunshot wound to her left thigh. Initial investigations re9. CRIMEvealed that at around 7:00p.m., Nissane Usher and two others were standing on the sidewalk on Magazine Road, Belize City; when a person came and fired several shots in their direction. Police have no motive or suspects in thus shooting.

Shortly after 10pm Saturday night, police visited the KHMH where they saw 34 year old Levar Taylor of Belize City suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his left shoulder, and 14 year old Tara Centino with gunshot wounds to her leg. Investigations revealed that around 10:15 Saturday night, two male persons of dark complexion rode passed them on a motorbike and fired several shots at them.  Both persons were admitted to ward in a stable condition.

The spate of shootings carried on until Sunday where around 5:41a.m police visited an area on cemetery road where they saw 41-year-old Kent Cole of a Central American Boulevard address with a gunshot wound to the right upper arm. He reported that an unknown person in a green Mazda S.U.V approached him and fired shots in his direction for no reason. Cole is admitted at the KHMH in a stable condition.

Belize City Police are currently investigating all shooting incidents over the weekend, but so far their efforts have been futile in establishing suspects or motives for the shootings.
