Dangriga Police investigates shooting incident in that municipality

Thursday, May 21st, 2015. BMG: Dangriga Police are seeking for one person for questioning into an incident that occurred in the Backatown area in that municipality.

According to authorities, whilst they were on patrol in the “Back town” area they observed two men acting suspiciously and upon approaching the two individuals they ran away.

Police immediately set chased where one of them, brandished a handgun and fired several shots at the police.

Subsequently, the police returned fire and injured one of the fleeing men on his leg.

Upon making checks police discovered that the culprit had in his possession a ski mask and a .22 handgun containing 6 live rounds.

Police also recovered 3 expended .22 shells from the scene.

The individual whom identity is not yet known, was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where he was treated and released into police custody.
