US Embassy issues security caution for Visitors

Friday, May 22^nd 2015. BMG: The U.S Embassy has issued a statement advising American citizens to use extra caution while in the area between Roaring Creek and Teakettle in western Belize.

This is a result of the rise in violent crime in that area where eleven murders have been recorded since the beginning of the year.

The embassy also outlined some security measures and provided information for those that chose to vacation in Belize.

The Security Practices outlined include: 1. be unpredictable when possible in both work and social schedules. 2. Always be aware of your surroundings. 3. Be prepared to take evasive action at any time. 4. Avoid choke points in traffic. 5. Never lead someone back to your house if you are being followed and never give out your personal information.
