Tuesday, June 16th, 2015. BMG: A traffic incident on Friday in Corozal Town injured a resident of that municipality.
According to the report, Azir Zalazar was riding his bicycle on College Road in Corozal when he was hit by a car and began experiencing pain to his hands and legs.
The incident occurred at around 9:00 on Friday night and Zalazar was taken to the hospital by Kenroy Samuels, a 43 year old customs officer.
Police investigations revealed that Samuels who was the driver of the car seemed under the influence of alcohol and subsequently detained. Samuels was then informed in the presence of a doctor, that a blood and urine sample was needed but he refused.
He was later taken to the Corozal Police Station where a notice of intended prosecution was given. Samules is also expected to be charged with “failure to provide specimen.”
