Four Arrested in Heroin Drug Bust in Corozal

Wednesday, June 17th 2015. BMG: Reports reaching our newsroom are that the Belize Police Anti Drug Unit (ADU) made a heroin drug bust in Corozal District yesterday evening.

According to reports, the ADU were on special operations within the Corozal District when they conducted a search at a residence in Ranchito Village near the junction of the Philip Goldson Highway and the Maya Airstrip Road.

A result of the search, led to the arrest of three male persons and one female person who were in the possession of 7 parcels of suspected heroin.

The 4 persons along with the seven parcels of suspected heroin were escorted to the Corozal Police Station for processing. Their names were learnt to be Fermin Velasquez, 51 year old Belizean mechanic of Ranchito Village, Eber Rivera, 25 year old Belizean laborer of San Joaquin Village, Kua Liao, also known as Peter, Chinese business man of 8 miles George Price Highway, and Alba Velasquez, 38 year old  Salvadoran Domestic of Ranchito Village.

According to police reports, the drugs were weighed in their presence and amounting to 7,418.0 grams of suspected heroin.

All four person have since been arrested and charged for drug trafficking.
