World Bank supports Belmopan City Council

Friday, June 19th, 2015. BMG: Officials from the World Bank and Social Investment Fund met with some Councilors, Managers and the Acting Mayor Jacklyn Burns this week at the Belmopan City Council.

The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate infrastructural works that have been completed within the municipality and works that are to be initiated in the immediate future. Projects that have recently been completed include; the pavement of Almond Boulevard, Chiquibul Street, works in Nimli punit and altun ha streets and drainage projects in the Mountain View areas of Belmopan.

Works to come on stream next is the pavement of six streets in the Water Reservoir area of Belmopan.

Also discussed in the meeting was the Belmopan Municipal Development Plan which seeks to see how the municipality will adopt it and initiate the Local Development Working Group. The World Bank personnel pledged their continued support to the municipality and expressed their appreciation for the recent developments which they have inspected prior to the meeting.
