Wednesday, July 15th 2015. BMG: A few weeks ago political commentator and author Stephen Okeke wrote on Facebook that the People’s United Party (PUP) must think and act radically if they are to regain the confidence of the electorate in time for general elections.

He raised ten points of interest for the party to address prior to the Dangriga by election, including moving to change leaders or rehabilitation of the public image of current leader Francis Fonseca.

According to Okeke, the party has failed to convince voters that they are serious about being a viable opposition and credible future administration.

The two men he believes can change that are former leader John Briceno and Lake Independence standard bearer Cordel Hyde. Hyde in particular would bring a fresh face to party leadership, Okeke says.

Alternatively, the PUP should hire a media consultant to work on reshaping the party’s public presentation.

The PUP has maintained it’s support for Fonseca despite losing multiple elections under his leadership.
