Guzman broke out of Altiplano prison West of Mexico City over the weekend through a mile long tunnel and remains on the run.

Periodistas Quintana Roo, quoted by Que Pasa Corozal, quotes Mexican and U.S. officials as believing that Guzman was smuggled here and is in hiding.

At least one local businessman is accused of ties to the Sinaloa Cartel, which he denies. Police have not indicated receiving such information.
