Tuesday, July 28th, 2015. BMG: European Union (EU) Ambassador to Belize, H.E. Paola Amadei, has been in Belize since July 26 and participated in a forum on Belize-Guatemala relations today, which was the main event of her one week visit.
The forum is part of an EU funded program that will work to resolve the territorial dispute between the two countries over a two year period.
Ambassador Amadei spoke on the importance of the initiative, saying that EU sees the need to continue supporting the OAS in fostering measures to ensure a peaceful settlement to the dispute between Belize and Guatemala.
Amadei will also inaugurate EU funded infrastructure works like archaeological sites, Caves Branch and Lamanai.
The inauguration at Caves Branch will be at 10:00 a.m on Wednesday, July 29, which will introduce great improvements to the site such as better walking trails, while the Lamanai inauguration will be at 11:00 a.m on Friday, July 31 and will introduce similar improvements to those at Caves Branch that make the sites more attractive to visitors.
Before Ambassador Amadei leaves the country on August 1, she will also meet with senior Government Officials and counterparts of other international institutions.
