Guatemalan soldier charged for prohibited ammunition

ammuniationFriday, August 7th, 2015. Chrisbert Garcia Reporting: A 23 year old Guatemalan Soldier was arrested and charged by Punta Gorda Police for two live rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, which were found inside his home in San Vicente Village, Toledo District.

The Tactical Response Squad searched the home of Samuel Cucul Pop yesterday, August 6th, and found the ammunition, after which he was brought to Punta Gorda Town and charged for “Kept Prohibited Ammunition”.

Also inside the house at the time of the search were 4 other Guatemalans and 2 Belizeans, who were not arrested since Pop took responsibility for the ammunition.

San Vicente Village is located on the Belize/Guatemala borderline and residents can easily walk across borders, allowing many Guatemalans to settle in the village.
