Wednesday, August 26th, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: Eighteen year old year Flores, a resident of 15 Curassow Street who allegedly stole $2,188, the collection money for St. Joseph Parish, was charged with robbery when he appeared today before Magistrate La Donna John.
Flores pled not guilty to the charge. He was offered a bail of $3,000 and his case was adjourned until October 27.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on August 24. Seventy-six year old Eric Neal, a retired teacher, reported to the police that he went to St. Joseph Parish on St. Joseph Street to collect money to make a deposit and as he was about to leave with the money he was approached by a young man with a peak cap who wore camouflage pants and a white t-shirt.
Neal said the man grabbed a black laptop bag from him which contained the money. Neal said a struggle ensued between him and the man but the man managed to escape with the bag.
