Monday, 07 September 2015. BMG: A 70-year-old woman, Elizabeth Romelia Rodriguez, from the Libertad Village in Corozal was killed after she was hit by a 20-year-old driver on Saturday night.
Jomar Hercules, who was driving a Nissan X-terra, was reportedly reversing his vehicle when he hit the elderly woman, as she was trying to cross Jerusalem Street. Rodriguez was then taken to the Corozal Hospital and was suffering severe pain all over her body, before being taken to the Northern Regional Hospital.
She was pronounced dead at 3:34 a.m. on Sunday morning as a result of the injuries she suffered in the accident. Hercules has since been detained by police and is pending charges.
