Conch season opens

Wednesday, September 30^th, 2015. BMG: Fishing season for the Queen Conch opens tomorrow, Thursday, October 1. It remains open until June 30, 2016 or the national catch quota is realized.

The Fisheries Administrator warns all fishermen and the general public that no person or establishment can hold any diced conch meat. Market-cleaned conch meat and fillet conch meat weight must be greater than 3 and 2.75 ounces respectively and conch shell length must be greater than seven inches.

All must uphold the fisheries regulations and ensure that the Department or Crime Stoppers is informed of wrongdoing at 224-4552 / 203-2623 or Crime Stoppers Belize at 0-800-922-TIPS (8477) to report any infractions. The Department can also be reached by e-mail at [email protected].
