PUP Pickstock candidate “not involved with COLA”

Posted: Thursday, October 8, 2015. 10:08 am CST.

Dr. Francis SmithThursday, October 8th, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: While he concedes that his objectives and theirs are the same, candidate for the People’s United Party (PUP) in Pickstock division, Dr. Francis Smith, denies being in any way involved in activist group Citizens Organized for Liberty through Action (COLA)’s decision to actively campaign against his Pickstock opponent, Wilfred Elrington.

COLA hopes to persuade Pickstock voters not to vote for Elrington, a two-term representative, to ensure he cannot be re-appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Smith says he has no “contradictions” with the organization, but says he is “not a part” of COLA. He admits to having met with COLA president Geovannie Brackett as he says he would with any other.

COLA’s public meeting takes place on Thursday night on New Road.
