Outbreak of violence in Southside Belize City claims two lives

Saturday, October 17, 2015.  Aaron Humes Reporting: Police have confirmed two deaths and another person injured in three separate shooting incidents reported in the span of less than six hours in Southside Belize City.

As we previously reported, an older man now identified as 56 year old Edward Robinson was fatally shot on North Creek around 7:49 in the morning. Also injured was 33 year old Jamil Betancourt, who is now at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City in critical condition.

Around 10:40, another incident was reported on Ebony Street near the Long Barracks but no one was injured.

However, at 2:13 this afternoon, 30 year old Karl Heusner (no relation to the hospital but known to authorities) was fatally injured at the corner of Berkeley and Albert Streets.

Police continue to investigate all incidents.

After a murder-free month of September on Southside, these are the first murders in the area for the month of October and only the sixth and seventh to be reported since the change of command in July.
