Thursday, October 22, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: The Ministry of Energy, Science & Technology and Public Utilities (MESTPU) handed over computers to five education and community-based organizations across the country this morning at the George Price Center for Peace and Development in Belmopan.
The ten computers were received through a generous donation from the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) in support of the MESTPU’s mandate to increase access to information communications technologies, minimize the digital divide, in particular, to vulnerable populations while enhancing the millennium development goal and strategies across Caribbean nations.
The five organizations that will be benefiting from the donations include: Stann Creek Ecumenical High School, Immaculate Conception R.C. School of Bullet Tree Falls, Cayo District, Belize Rural High School of Double Head Cabbage village, Belize District, the National Drug Abuse Control Council and San Antonio Library in the Orange Walk District. In total, these computers will allow hundreds of children to access the internet in their communities.
