Teen boy charged for sex with girl minor

Tuesday, November 3^rd, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: A 19 year old boy has been accused of having an unlawful sexual relationship with a 15 year old girl who resides in a child care center in Belize City.

Chief Magistrate Ann-Marie Smith denied bail to Guillermo Silva, a farmer and resident of Antelope Street Extension on a charge of unlawful sexual assault, despite the girl’s claims of a consensual relationship.

The minor reported the matter along with a social worker, but insists that Silva is her boyfriend.

Nonetheless, on October 19, 2015, the two engaged in sexual relations, which was later confirmed by medical examination.

In court, no plea was taken from Silva and due to the nature of the offense, he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until December 16, 2015.

The age of consent for sexual intercourse in Belize is 16.
