COLA calls out government over Nanes Schnitzer case

Posted: Tuesday, November 24, 2015. 2:35 pm CST.

Tuesday, November 24th, 2015. BMG: A press release recently issued by Citizens Organized for Liberty through Action (COLA), condemns the release of international fugitive and con-man, David Nanes Schnitzer, David Schnitzerwho walked out of the Supreme Court on Friday, November 20th after being granted bail, despite being wanted in Mexico for a Ponzi scheme in which he fraudulently acquired US $42 million from investors, similar to the way he acquired a Belizean passport using false information.

The release questions how it is that our country’s justice system could have granted bail to a man accused of serious crimes and was never even truly a Belizean Citizen, while two young Belizean mothers were jailed over the weekend for a rather minor offence.

It states that Schnitzer has apparently managed to intrude into Belize, ‘buying’ everyone in his path, as he attempts to distance himself from one of the largest fraud schemes in history, while two born Belizean young women can’t even get the top Magistrates to reconsider opening their case and depriving them of returning to their children.

It goes on to demand public answers from the Minister of Immigration and Nationality, the new Attorney General and from the Minister of National Security, to find out why Schnitzer was not properly vetted before being allowed to share a piece of the Jewel.

This release ends by stating that COLA will not remain silent and its mission is to remove every last fetter on the liberty of Belize’s people and they will not falter because injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
