Elderly man killed in Road traffic accident

By Chrisbert Garcia: 37-year-old David Anthony Bermudez was detained by police following a traffic accident at the Santa Cruz junction with Placencia Road, in which his Dodge Ram pickup truck collided into a man riding a bicycle, resulting in fatal injuries.

Police responded to the scene around 7:45 on the mentioned night and saw 50-year-old Jorge Reynoso Juarez of Santa Cruz village, lying in the middle of the road with head and body injuries.

Initial investigations revealed that just minutes earlier, Bermudez was driving his truck towards Mayan King Village when he saw Juarez on a bicycle and reportedly swerved to avoid collision but attempts were futile.

Juarez was transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and Bermudez was subsequently detained to face possible charges.
