Arenal man busted for over three pounds of weed

By Chrisbert Garcia: While on foot patrol Monday evening around 6:15 on the banks of the Mopan River in Arenal Village, a Special Patrol Unit noticed two suspicious men walking and shined flashlights in their direction, informing them that they were police officers.

Upon hearing that, one of the men threw a grey knapsack and ran from the officers but he was quickly captured and taken to retrieve the bag, which contained cannabis amounting to 1,437 grams or over three pounds. The second man was able to make good his escape.

As a result of the cannabis found, 25-year-old Ismael Jimenez of the Hill of Promise area in Benque Viejo Town was arrested and charged for the offense of “Drug Trafficking”.
