By Chrisbert Garcia: Confirmed reports from Punta Gorda (PG) police, indicate that a male minor of that municipality was detained and released yesterday after intensive questioning in connection to last week’s early morning murder of popular taxi driver, 64-year-old Antonio Mendia Rodriguez.
Rodriguez was stabbed multiple times to the chest and his throat was allegedly slit, which was the cause of his untimely and brutal death in a secluded area on the outskirts of PG known as ‘360 exile’.
His body was found a few feet away from his Isuzu Trooper shortly after midday on December 15th and since then, police had been left with almost no clues to solve this puzzling and rare PG murder.
It is unclear if police have any more suspects or if the questioning of the minor revealed any clues but to this time no arrests have been made.
