By Chrisbert Garcia: On Sunday around 5:52 a.m., as 93-year-old Patrick Grant slept in his Fern Lane, Belize City home, he was awakened by a loud bang on his front door and then beaten before a lone intruder stole his television.
Upon arrival at the scene, police saw the elderly man with cut wounds to the head and swelling to the face, which he told officers was caused by a male person who broke into his house through the front door and injured him as he got out of bed to check what was happening.
The burglar, later identified by police to be 35-year-old Chester Noralez, has been arrested and charged for the offence of “burglary” and Grant’s 21-inch Toshiba television was recovered.
