By Dalila Ical: Twenty-one-year-old Sheri Patt is at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) after she was hit by a vehicle last night on the Philip Goldson Highway in the Corozal District.
Police report that the incident occurred between miles 71 and 72 on the Philip Goldson Highway at the Junction with San Narciso Village around 8:30 Wednesday night. The young woman had alighted a bus heading towards Orange Walk Town and attempted to cross the Highway from behind the bus when she was hit by 38-year-old Donny Cal who was driving towards Corozal.
Cal stopped to aide Patt and took her to the Corozal Community Hospital where she was admitted. Patt sustained scrapes to her left and right cheeks and her entire face was swollen. She also suffered an abrasion to one of her shoulders.
Cal, a Belizean technician, has been issued a notice of intended prosecution by police. His vehicle was licensed and insured and his driver’s license was also in order. Patt has been transferred to the KHMH for further assessments.
