9. CRIMEBy Chrisbert Garcia: Two Belize City men have been detained by police and are pending investigations after a shooting incident at J/B Auto Wash on Barrack Road yesterday morning, when several shots were fired at a man who was chased into the business’ store room.

Police visited the auto wash and were told by the owner that around 10:10 a.m., he saw a man, later identified as 29-year-old Leon Garcia, run into the back storeroom then immediately after, heard gunshots ring out.

Investigations revealed that Garcia was standing in front of the business when a male person chased him then fired several shots in his direction, none of which struck him or anyone else and police believe that the attempt on his life is related to a rivalry between Victoria Street and Pink’s Alley.

21-year-old George McKenzie Jr., son of notorious gangster George “Junie Balls” McKenzie Sr., of Majestic alley and 18-year-old Dane Gillette of an Arlington Drive address have been detained for questioning in connection to this incident.
