Motorcycle rider dies in accident on Placencia road

By BMG Staff: On Sunday morning, Dangriga police responded to a traffic accident on the Placencia Road about half a mile from the junction of Riversdale and the road leading to Sagitun Banana farm,Traffic-Accident-Logo-Stop-Cones where they observed a red and black motor cycle in a drain with damages.

Police investigations have revealed that around 2:00 a.m., 21-year-old Herlin Geovanni Rhodas, a resident from the village of Santa Cruz was riding his motorcycle accompanied by 25-year-old Yuri Guerra, a Canadian painter also from the village.

Guerra, told police that Rhodas lost control of the motorcycle causing him to run off the road, landing in the drain.

Both Guerra and Rhodas received head and body injuries and both men were transported to the Southern Regional Hospital where Rhodas succumbed to his injuries.

Guerra remains in a serious but stable condition.

A postmortem examination on Rhodas’s body is scheduled for later this week.
