By Dalila Ical.: Juan Carlos Lopez Gutierrez was captured by Orange Walk Police during a joint operation with Mexican police on Thursday afternoon. Juan Carlos

Gutierrez is expected to be charged this morning for the murder of 55-year-old Francisco Arevalo and appear in court this afternoon. Gutierrez has been in police custody since yesterday afternoon after he was caught in Allende Village, not far from La Union in Mexico along the Belize Mexico border.

It is believed that Arevalo was involved in a love triangle that cost him his life. Preliminary investigations suggested that Arevalo received a call from the woman he was seeing and who was also in a relationship with Gutierrez, after which he stepped out. He never returned home and his nude body was found on January 17th not far from his house hear an unfinished building with a chop wound to the back of his head, neck and his left hand was partly severed.

The woman was detained by police and later handed over to immigration as she was illegal in the country. Orange Walk Police say there was no evidence that linked her to the murder directly or indirectly and as such was released. She is believed to have left the country by now.
