9. CRIMEBy BBN Staff: Belmopan Police are investigating what is believed to have been a rape attempt in the San Martin Area on Saturday night when a 27-year-old female was attacked by a man with a knife who threatened to kill her.

The victim reported to police that around 10:00 p.m. she left home to purchase food and while walking at the corner of San Martin Road and Guadalupe Street, a slim built, dark complexion male person of Creole descent approached her with a knife, then attempted to pull her into nearby bushes while he stated that he would kill her.

During the struggle, the female fell to the ground and her attacker then got on top of her, pinning her head to the ground but before he could make his next move, an approaching motorcycle spooked him and he took off running through the bushes.

The police reminds everyone to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings when going out at night.
