SantanderBy BBN Staff: The dismembered and crushed body of a 20-year-old Guatemalan National, Francisco Andres Antonio Sebastian, currently awaits a post mortem examination at the Western Regional Hospital after he was killed in a freak accident.

Luis Felipe Rivera, a 21-year-old driver at Santander Sugar Mill, reported to police yesterday that sometime around 11:52 a.m. while he was driving a harvester machine, a co-worker alerted him of a human body on its elevator.

Rivera immediately stopped the machine but by that time, Sebastian’s head had already been crushed, his feet and arms amputated, as well as his abdomen cut.

The harvester is responsible for chopping cane, absorbing it, passing it through the chopping area into the thrash extractor and up an elevator, then into a trailer.

Unfortunately, Sebastian had reportedly fallen asleep on the cane row while the harvester was experiencing mechanical problems and after it was fixed, he was sucked into the machine along with cane.

Sebastian’s body was transported to the hospital where it was pronounced dead and police investigation into the incident continues.
