Two persons detained for Sunday night double murder

By BBN Staff: In the wake of a Sunday night double murder in Camalote Village, Cayo District, police have detained a man and woman who are pending investigations.

On Sunday night around 7:23 p.m., police responded to shots fired in the village and were re-directed to the Western Regional Hospital where the victims had been transported before they got to the scene.

At the hospital, officers learned that 24-year-old Akeem Thimbriel had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 7:49 p.m. He had been shot to both arms and his chest.

Also seen suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body, was Shawn Lopez who was pronounced dead at 8:45 p.m.

Initial investigation revealed that around 7:20 p.m., while both men were walking on an unnamed street, a grey pickup truck stopped beside them and an occupant opened fire on them, causing their injuries.

The bodies of Thimbriel and Lopez now await post mortem examinations.
