Progresso man being investigated for $11,000 scam

9. CRIMEBy BBN Staff: Police are investigating an incident reported by a 71-year-old female resident of San Estevan Village in Orange Walk District, who told officers that a man she knows as Cecilio Mesh, obtained money from her and then disappeared.

Mesh, a Progresso Village, Corozal District resident, is alleged to have been entrusted with monies by the elderly woman, which he was to use for the obtainment of two land titles for her in the village where he resides.

The woman stated that from December 11th of last year to January 18th of this year, she made eight payments to Mesh, totaling to $11,000 and since making the last payment, she has not seen or heard from him.
