By Aaron Humes: Sovereign and Strong – Together as one! The National Celebrations Commission has selected this theme to represent the upcoming September Celebrations.

The theme was submitted by Argelia Mendoza Ken, a teacher and counselor at the Belize High School of Agriculture in the Orange Walk District.

A press release from the Commission notes that “Most of the proposed themes submitted this year expressed concern for Belize’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and uniting in the face of the Guatemalan Claim.”

As is now traditional, Ken will be acknowledged and awarded at the official opening of the September Celebrations on Sunday, August 28, at the now-traditional venue of St. George’s Caye.
