By. BBN Staff: The conch season will close on June 24.
The advisory has been issued by the Belize Fisheries Department stating that the Queen Conch (Strombus gigas) fishery season closes on that date and reopens on October 1, 2016.
All conch should be consumed on or by June 24 by restaurateurs and the general public. Anyone caught with conch meat after that date will be charged and prosecuted.
The Fisheries Department advises the general public to report any illegal fisheries activity by calling telephone numbers 224-4552 or 223-2623.
