Minor detained for 489 grams of cannabis

BBN Staff: Over 400 grams of cannabis was removed from the streets of Belize City. 

Officers were on their daily patrol when their attention was drawn to a shirtless male person who carried a blue gift bag behaving in a very suspicious manner.

When officers approached him, he dropped the gift bag and fled the area. Police, however, set chase and he was apprehended and escorted back to the area where he had dropped the bag.

Officers discovered the illegal substance when checking the bag, which weighed in at 489 grams of cannabis.

The minor is now in police custody pending charges.
