Posted July 7th 2016, 3:25 p.m By Aaron Humes: There is sad closure to a story we reported last week, where three police officers who are members of the Eastern Division (North) Strike Team were commended by their commanders for rescuing a 12 year old boy from the waters of the Caribbean Sea, after he jumped in and was in danger of drowning.
The boy, now identified as student Gavin Richard Stephenson, had been recovering in hospital but unfortunately passed on a few days ago.
Family members declined public comment today but issued the following statement:
Gavin Richard Stephenson, 12 year old student of St. Martin De Porres School, was buried on Tuesday, July 5th, 2016. The family is still grieving but would like to express their gratitude to all those who gave support and prayers. Words cannot express the thanks we have in our hearts. All we can say is God bless you all.
Breaking Belize News extends its condolences to the family of the late Gavin Stephenson. May he rest in peace.
