Santa Cruz man busted with weed

 By BBN Staff: Thirty-six-year-old Melvin Salazar from the Santa Cruz Area in Santa Elena Town in the Cayo District is currently in police custody pending charges for drug trafficking.

According to police, on Saturday officers were on mobile patrol on the George Price Boulevard where their attention was drawn by Salazar that led them to a search where they discovered two separate black plastics bag containing cannabis.

Salazar was escorted to the Benque Viejo Police Station where a thorough search was conducted on his person which led to the discovery of four black plastic bags wrapped with transparent tape, one on the lower and one on the upper part of both legs.

The total cannabis in his possession amounted to 1,389.1 grams.

Salazar now awaits charges of “drug trafficking”.
