Tropical Storm Earl has formed in the western Caribbean

By BBN Staff: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami, USA is reporting that Tropical Storm Earl has officially formed in the Caribbean Sea. According to the NHC, the tropical storm is passing south of Jamaica and is moving rapidly westward at about 20 mph toward the northwestern Caribbean Sea.

Environmental conditions are favorable for additional development and the storm has already caused at least six deaths in the Dominican Republican reports The Associated Press.

Tropical Storm Earl is expected to bring heavy rains, flooding and high winds to Mexico, Belize and Honduras.

The storm was centered about 535 miles east of Belize City this morning with sustained winds of 45 mph and was speeding west at 22 mph.
