Carla Barnett sworn in as Minister of State

BBN Staff: Senator Carla Barnett was sworn in this morning as Minister of State by the Governor General H.E. Sir Colville Young during a brief ceremony at the Belize House in Belmopan.

The Senator will now assume the responsibility as Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, of which the Prime Minster Dean Barrow holds overall responsibility.

On the occasion of her swearing-in, the newly appointed Minister of State said: “I’ve been asked to perform in a position that is really important at this time; and my hope, my expectation, my commitment is to do the best that I can along with the full team in Cabinet to ensure that we do what needs to be done at this time.”

Barnett was joined by family, friends, supporters and Ministers of Government.
