By Aaron Humes: C.E.O. Candelaria Saldivar, the sister of Minister John Saldivar, remains on administrative leave over a year after vacating her office in the Ministry of Immigration.  That’s because she reportedly couldn’t get along with the Heads of Department. During this time, the senior public officer continues to enjoy her full salary, as well as the perks of her post.

According to the Leader of the Opposition, that’s an annual income of well over sixty thousand dollars, not including the monthly entertainment and housing allowance.  At the House of Representatives on Friday, Prime Minister was questioned about Saldivar’s leave of absence.

As a public officer, Saldivar does not expect to leave the service until retirement age, that is 55.

Government has not been able to find an office for her, while making sure she does not lose benefits to reassignment. If they cannot find such a position, then retirement will be discussed.

It is illegal, she cannot be a CEO and be a public officer collecting a CEO salary, she should have resigned to take up the CEO position, you all need to check the PSR because she would then become a contract officer…
