Why 2016 is not 2005?

By Delroy Cuthkelvin: While there are some who for selfish reasons would like history to repeat itself, the mood that existed in 2005 cannot be replicated in 2016, and the reasons are simple.

First of all, Dean Barrow is NOT Said Musa, and the UDP is NOT the PUP. One has a proven track-record of good stewardship and prudent management, while the other presided over the worst period of waste and abuse of public resources. The PUP borrowed Billions with a B with nothing to show for it, while the UDP continues to transform the nation’s infrastructure and the lives of the Belizean people, even as it restructures and repays the huge debt left behind by the PUP who created the infamous superbond.

Another major difference is that Said Musa and the PUP were intransigent and refused to listen to anyone, while Dean Barrow and the UDP continue to dialogue with all stakeholders including the churches, the unions and the business community.

For all the above reasons and more, 2016 is NOT 2005, and the general mood of public discontent and outrage that existed then cannot be replicated now.

Obviously this article was written by UDP supporter. BNTU actions and it doesn’t matter which party is in power. Your comparison has nothing to do with us. What you should had written about is what is going wrong with this administration that has caused BNTU to go on strike.
