By BBN Staff:  The Ministry of Health, this morning, issued a press release informing that through social media platforms, it has become aware of  a restaurant in Belmopan that has been called out for unsanitary conditions and rodent infestation supported through personal testimony and photographs.

The Public Health Department, with support from the Belmopan City Council investigated over a two-day period and reported condition of the establishment.

The ministry informs that indeed the restaurant was found to be in violation of several public health infractions, namely unsanitary conditions and rodent infestation.

An immediate closure was effected on the establishment and it was ordered to conduct thorough cleaning and pest control. After several checks over the course of the two days, the establishment had complied with the recommendations of Public Health Department and was re-opened.

To support this activity the Public Health laws are also being reviewed to include stronger penalties for those not in compliance.
The public is advised to officially report any public issues of concern to the Public Health Department so as to be able to take necessary actions.

And which one was the restaurant? We need to know the history of their performance. The restaurant’s name being publicly called out for such fault should be part of the penalty. This would set an example to the other establishments as well, and, believe me, they would hurry up to clean up their act. Your incomplete report makes your news appear more like gossip.
