By BBN Staff:NEMO Minister, Edmund Castro has been delivering houses to victims of Hurricane Earl in all the areas that were severely affected. This week in Belize Rural North he handed over a number of houses to residents in villages throughout that division.
The houses delivered were mainly in Sand Hill, Maxborro and Gardenia. Castro also visited a number of families who have been helping themselves with assistance provided by the Government of Belize through the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) in the form of materials to repair their homes.
Accompanying Castro were officials from NEMO, namely Belize and Cayo District Regional Coordinator Al Westby, and Belize District Rural Coordinators Alphius Gillett and Lionel Tillett. Last month, residents in the villages of Maskall, St. Ann’s and Crooked Tree, which are also in the Belize Rural North Constituency received houses.
The handover of houses will continue throughout the Belize District, Cayo, Stann Creek and Orange Walk until the rebuilding program is completed in late November or early December.
The total number of houses being constructed for Hurricane victims is over 200, while over 100 roofs have been replaced and over 1,500 persons have received assistance with materials to repair their homes.
