Parent detained for questioning in death of infant daughter

By BBN Staff: Police have detained the parent of an infant child for questioning after the child died suddenly yesterday.

Belmopan police reported that the child was seen with various bruises to several parts of her body. A post mortem has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of her death.

According to police, officers were in Saint Matthews village when they were alerted that a female child was in need of medical attention.

The officers were rushing to the Western Regional Health when they met an ambulance and the child was handed over to emergency personnel.

The child was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. She was identified as one-year-old Janeeka Campbell.
