By Hugh O’Brien: The Belize Progressive Party (BPP) in its latest attempt to educate Belizeans on matters of national interest and to effect change in our system of governance launched the Progressive newsletter a few days ago.

Volume 1, Issue 1 of this monthly newsletter focused on Guatemala’s attempt to insist that Belize ‘Respete El Protocolo’, and provided information on the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and the BPP’s philosophy.

In an exclusive interview with BBN, Editor Hipolito Bautista indicated that the newsletter aims to “advocate for a change in the system of governance in Belize where a political class created by the UDP and PUP are enjoying the sweets of elections”.

The intent, he said, is to agitate for the wealth of the nation to be more equitably distributed and that the masses benefit from an improved system of governance.

Dealing with corruption will be high on the newsletter’s agenda but more importantly is help police the implementation of UNCAC and to make firm recommendations for stamping out corruption in Belize.

The newsletter is currently available from the BPP’s executive committee members, by email subscription and will soon be in public places countrywide.
