Belize City youth shot in the old capital last night

By BBN Staff: According to police reports, last night around 8:45, police responded to a shooting incident on Lindo’s Alley in Belize City and then visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw 19-year-old Keimar Nicholas of a Lindo’s Alley address suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left side of the neck.

Investigation revealed that about 8:40 p.m., Nicholas was socializing on the basketball court located at Lindo’s Alley along with two friends when a tall male person reportedly approached them on a bicycle and fired several shots at them injuring Nicholas.

Nicholas is presently listed as critical at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit.

A beach cruiser bicycle believed to be that of the perpetrator was recovered on Cemetery Road by police as well as a black Sigsauer brand firearm with an empty magazine also believed to be the weapon used in the incident.

Police investigation continues.
