Van completely destroyed by fire in Belize City

By BBN Staff: A 15-seater dodge van was completely destroyed by fire last night in Belize City.

Barrington Usher told police that he was driving the van from Chetumal bridge and unto Chetumal Street where he entered into a road traffic due to a police checkpoint being conducted ahead of him.

 Usher stated that he turned off the van’s ignition for about 5 minutes since traffic was stagnant and when the flow of traffic resumed, he turned on the engine and shortly thereafter he heard a loud bang coming from the bonnet area of the vehicle.

Usher saw smoke and fire coming from the bonnet.

 Usher then took some documents from inside the vehicle, exited and went to safety.

The van was completely destroyed by the fire and was valued at $4,000.
