Police are investigating the murder of a fisherman from Lucky Strike Village, Belize District. The body of Thomas Levi Young, 54, was found floating in the sea on Monday afternoon by Belize Port Authority personnel who were on patrol near Long Caye.
Police say Young had gone fishing with three other men on Thursday, December 5.
Police have not released any information on the whereabouts of the other three men; but have reported that aside from the gunshot wound to Young’s chest, his body had multiple chop wounds to the chip and left small finger.
A post mortem examination conducted by police forensic analyst Dr. Mario Estradabran indicated that Thomas Young dies as a result of “exsanguinations, internal and external bleeding due to gunshot wound to the chest.”
Police investigations continue.
