Sunny weather heading into Christmas

It is a sunny Monday morning in San Ignacio town and the Belize Weather Bureau says that good weather is prevailing over the country.

It will be sunny today with cloudy periods.

There is the chance of a few showers and isolated thunderstorms along southern and some coastal areas today.

Winds are easterly at 10 to 20 knots, with occasional higher gusts.

The sea state is moderate to rough.  If you venture out to sea today, the Belize Weather Bureau is advising operators of small craft to exercise caution.

High temperatures today will range from the mid 80’s along coastal areas, to the upper 80’s inland. It will be a comfortable 77 degrees Fahrenheit up in the hills.

Tonight the low temperatures will be in the low 70’s along the coast; upper 60’s inland and a chilly 64 degrees Fahrenheit up at the exposed areas of the Mountain Pine Ridge and along the Maya Mountains in the south.

For the fishermen, there will be a high tide at 2 o’clock this afternoon, followed by a low tide at a minute past 8 o’clock tonight.

The sun will set at twenty five minutes past five o’clock this evening. It will rise again at 6:19 am on Christmas Eve.

The extended forecast, valid through to Christmas Day is for cloudy spells with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms occurring mostly over southern coastal areas of the country.
