The Honorable the Minister of Education Mr. Patrick Faber in making a statement to the House of Representatives appealed to teachers not to attend any more of the rallies being held by the Belize National Teachers Union, BNTU.
Minister Faber stressed in the same statement that there would be no penalty is the teachers choose to attend.
Minister Faber chastised the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) for coming out in support of a salary adjustment for the teachers saying they, the Chamber, should rally their members to increase the minimum wages.
The next rally by the BNTU will be held in San Ignacio town on Fridaym, January 24 and will include teachers from Belmopan, San Ignacio/Santa Elena and Benque Viejo del Carmen.
